Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a photography software program developed by Adobe Systems for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, designed to assist professional photographers managing thousands of digital images, and do post production work. It is not a file browser like Adobe Bridge, but rather an image management application database which helps in viewing, editing and managing digital photos (including those on backup DVDs).

Great for photographers - use it after I've been shooting in RAW mainly.

wow... Lightroom blows my mind daily. It effectively removes the need to have Photoshop, Bridge, Aperture, Camera RAW ... as long as you stick with photographs.
You can feel that it has been developed for and tested by real professional photographers.

You should profile your monitor if you have not done so already.

    Pros:
    - Simple
    - Fast
    - Neat and convenient
    - Very well organized
    - great tagging, filtering, group, projects, labeling system

    Cons:
    - None so far for me, except that the photos i download from my Canon 350D tend to get a yellow tone over it, and i guess that's because of the RAW profile in Adobe LR.

Easy to work with pretty cool app.

@ixplorer - It is safe to upgrade. The internals are different so Lightroom will make a new version of your catalog. LR2 has some good features so I would definitely recommend upgrading.

Perhaps my favorite image workflow application. Really natural, and I can get a ton done with RAW images without ever having to open PhotoShop. Non-destructive editing is a real plus here.

Nice piece of software for every amateur and professional photographer. Especially very handy for managing RAW material. Great software to collect, organize and (basic) editting. For serious editting you still will need Photoshop. The workflow in Lightroom just works way faster for 99% of your photos.
