Exact Audio Copy is a so called audio grabber for audio CDs using standard CD and DVD-ROM drives. The main differences between EAC and most other audio grabbers are :
* It is free (for non-commercial purposes)
Edit
* It works with a technology which reads audio CDs almost perfectly. If there are any errors that can’t be corrected, it will tell you on which time position the (possible) distortion occurred, so you could easily control it with e.g. the media player.

also the greatest ripper I've used, can't believe its free.
does have the drawback of being a bit difficult to set up on some systems, but 95% of the time can be made to work with some tweaking of the options. If you can't get it to work then CDex is a good alternative, but just not as many options, or quick and reliable as EAC in my opinion.
Honestly the greatest ripper I know.
The only ripper I ever use, works great and with lame it wields the best results possible.
best free cd audio extraction out there! good to use along with the lame mp3 encoder
