PeerGuardian and PeerGuardian 2 are free and open source programs developed by Phoenix Labs. They are capable of blocking incoming and outgoing connections based on IP blocklists. Their purpose is to help protect the user's privacy from organizations such as the RIAA and MPAA while using filesharing networks such as FastTrack and BitTorrent[citation needed]. The system is also capable of blocking advertising, spyware, government and educational ranges, depending upon user preferences.

Tin foil hat for the digital age.

Still, it's worth having around, for that added layer of comfort when you are torrenting COMPLETELY LEGAL FILES.

A very good utility to help you fight off the RIAA/MPAAA snoops. Be carefull of the logging features of PG - it can fill up your HD !!!.

Afraid of the prying eyes of MPAAA/RIAA lawyers and their copyright infringement letters? Use PG2!

Quite a good app, but it'd be nice if it had Vista support, as I'm otherwise stuck with vista on this laptop.

great program. to the person who said PG doesn't protect you from the RIAA OR THE MPAA I have downloaded a whole lot of stuff off of P2P networks and Bit Torrent and I have never received one of those copyright infringement letters from my ISP in 5 1/2 years and I honestly believe it is because PG and Protowall which I also use. Whenever I am running PG when I use P2P or bit torrent It ends up blocking a lot of IP's I imagine some asshats working for RIAA and MPAA are behind some of those blocked IP's They try to be sneaky and use Bogon IANA reserved IP's so they can not be traced but I block all the bogon IANA IP's so they're not getting in. Anyways a blocklist is only good if you update it frequently and I update mine every day.
