This is replacing my iTunes. The only thing I really used iTunes for is listening to stuff I've bought on iTunes. Apparently songbird can play FairPlay DRM music now that it can use the quicktime engine. Also I've since stopped buying music on iTunes. AmazonMP3 is a much better service.

Overall, Songbird is an awesome music library/player that is working towards greatness. I used Songbird back when it was in the early alpha stages and it has made huge strides since then. Right now the project is in great shape and has enormous potential to burst into the mainstream, much like Firefox.

Obviously the project is still growing rapidly and as a result is missing a few things. The feature I want most that songbird currently doesn't have is visualizations. I'm hoping that the developers incorporate projectm or something similar to accomplish this. My only other complaint is that memory usage could probably be slimmed down a bit more, but I have not really run into a problem with excessive memory usage while running songbird.

I am looking forward to seeing songbird's evolution and what new features the developers have in store for us. I think the most exciting thing will be seeing what kind of addons the community will come up with in the future.

Now I only wish that I could use Songbird to manage my iPhone rather than being stuck with iTunes.

The new version is starting to grow on me. Not buggy like the alpha and beta versions.

One of the best Open Source media players, I have used. It could be a iTunes killer...

Songbird is such a potential player, It's very cool but also has some stuff that's not working properly, I really hope to see more useful plug-ins to make it better.

I like the idea of a Firefox/iTunes lovechild for audio. I haven't tried the iPod interface yet, but the seeqpod plugin really needs some work. It ALWAYS dies when trying to sort out dead links.

I like Songbird but it's a bit heavy (do I really need a web browser in my media player?). It uses a lot of memory if you leave it open for a while (perhaps because I have over 15.000 songs in there).

This is the Firefox of media players. Not recommended if you have a newer iPod though, Apple broke support with other media players.

The latest release dropped .m4a playback unless you have Quicktime installed. Until they add native playback again, I won't use it anymore, unfortunately.

Can be a total memory power-user, but apart from that is awesome. Will play both windows DRM and itunes DRM, which means I can play songs from Ruckus and itunes all in one player. Couple bugs here and there though, they need to be sorted out.
