Ventrilo can be used for home / personal applications like talking to friends and family, or playing organized online games where Voice Comm can make them more exciting and productive.

It can also be used in an enterprise environment as a productivity tool for conducting long distance group discussions. This would also help when using group collaboration programs that don't provide any kind of voice communication support.

I have been using Vent for years now. Simple as can be, and great. Ran a Vent server on a crappy old laptop running Linux, and it worked flawlessly.

yeah, if you get ventrilo, go with darkstarllc.com, no question, they're the best. My clan uses them for Vent and a gameserver and both are awesome.

Ventrilo is a very cool program for voice communication, very good for webinars or online gaming. Lacks in the sexiness department but has excellent usability.

Ventrilo is amazing- it blows Teamspeak out of the water! I've been using a server with http://www.darkstarllc.com for years now for my World of Warcraft Guild, I've never seen a better tool for voice chat. :D
