Windows Command Prompt (cmd.exe) is the command line interpreter for Windows NT-based operating systems (including Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008). It is the analog of COMMAND.COM in MS-DOS and Windows 9x systems.

Useful(necessary), but like all old Windows-included programs, needs better help documentation.

Who can deny the power of the command prompt?

  • aens

If you want it transparent or want to use a background image with it, you should try Console. Just search it up there ^

  • Demented Demon

    Command Prompt is fun. :D
Very Nostalgic when i'm using it, Good for basic usage running some tools using it. Useful.

Mmmmmmm... Command prompt for the win.

I use cmd (with space and long file name interpretation) out of laziness, but if I'm feeling REALLY hardcore I'll use command.com - 8.3 truly ftw! Far more powerful than Explorer for the really power-user functions, there's still things I do daily at a command prompt which would take far more time to accomplish with the GUI.

And if you don't know what I'm on about, you probably didn't use computers before Windows 98. Go away. :D
